The Mediterranean is the world’s most popular summer charter destination, with yachts available from Spain’s Balearic Isles to the French and Italian Rivieras and beyond to Greece, Turkey, and Croatia. The heart of the Mediterranean yachting community is on the French Riviera and Monaco. This sample itinerary gives you an idea of some of the things you can see during a charter there.

Day One: Cannes to Saint-Raphaël. Enjoy some time in the Old Port at Cannes before cruising past the beautiful, red volcanic mountains called Massif de l’Estérel. End your first day at Saint-Raphaël, where the shops and restaurants are just a short walk from the marina.

Day Two: St. Raphaël to St. Tropez. Join more than a few of the world’s most impressive superyachts at the port of St. Tropez, where elegance and nightlife seem as natural as the sand and the sea.

Day Three: St. Tropez to Le Lavandou. Another day of scenic cruising awaits en route to Le Lavandou, where the old town is postcard perfect, filled with boutiques and eateries that are close enough to reach by walking from the marina.

Day Four: Le Lavandou to Hyères. You can island hop all around this area, where the best-known island is Porquerolles. The bays at
Porquerolles are wonderful for swimming, relaxing, and enjoying a picnic lunch at the beach before heading on to the charming port at Hyères.

Day Five: Hyères to Sainte-Maxime. Sainte-Maxime lies on the Gulf of St. Tropez and is filled with cobblestone streets that welcome visitors all summer long. Seafood is the local delicacy, and restaurants of all sizes and styles tend to be impressive.

Day Six: Sainte-Maxime to Fréjus. What’s left of the medieval city at Fréjus is fascinating to see, including the cathedral and the stone
pillars that were once part of a Roman aqueduct system. The old port area is, ironically, a return to modern civilization with a number of good restaurants to sample.

Day Seven: Fréjus to Cannes. Return to Cannes by way of Les Îles de Lérins, two islands separated by a calm channel where your charter yacht can anchor if you’d like to take a swim. Relax here before heading into nearby Cannes to catch your flight home.
